Overview
The Borrower's Needs List uses the information provided in the borrower's loan application to determine which supporting documents are needed to process their loan application, such as bank statements, driver's license, or tax returns.
Accessing the BNL
The BNL is located in the Needs List tab in the Navigation Bar.
Run Needs List
The list of required items in the BNL is generated automatically upon creation of initial disclosures based on the information provided in the borrower's loan application. You can also run the needs list manually by clicking Run Needs List. This action can be performed throughout the loan process to update the list if any changes occur that may require additional documentation.
Note: if the Run Needs List button is clicked after the list has already been generated, the system will clear the previously-created list and create the list from the current state of the loan record.
BNL Count Icons
The needs list uses the following icons to indicate the current status of each item:
-
Pending Review
- items that are Pending Review have been uploaded and need to be accepted or rejected by the user before they can be satisfied
-
Incomplete
- items that have been rejected by the user are marked as Incomplete
-
Needed

-
Satisfied
- items that have been accepted by the user are marked as Satisfied

Inviting Your Borrower to Complete a Task
You can invite your borrower(s) to complete their BNL items in the consumer site (cPOS) by sending them a SecureLink email. There are two options for sending a SecureLink:
- send a general email prompting the borrower to view their need's list items
- send an email prompting the borrower to complete a particular task
To send a general email asking the borrower to log in to cPOS and view their needs list, select Send SecureLink at the top of the list

This button opens an email template that contains information about the documents that the borrower needs to provide. Borrowers can use the SecureLink contained in this email to log in to cPOS and upload their documents on the Your Tasks page. If necessary, the information in this template can be edited. When it is ready, click Send.
To remind the borrower to upload a particular document, use the icon to expand the relevant task and select No, Incomplete below 'Does these documents satisfy this needs list item?,' which will open a window that contains an editable message to the borrower about the needed item. Select the checkbox at the bottom of this window to send this message via SecureLink email, and then click Done.
An email template will appear containing a link to cPOS and the message from the previous window. The borrower can use this link to log in and upload their document(s).
Note: the Send SecureLink button only appears when cPOS is enabled for your organization.

Uploaded documents are automatically sent to the Pending Review section to be classified by the user.

Review Pending Documents
Uploaded documents that are awaiting review by the user appear in the Pending Review section. Select Review Item to view a pending document.
The following window displays a copy of the uploaded document. If necessary, the Associated Needs List Item for the upload can be changed using the drop-down menu. Use the buttons at the bottom of the window to Accept or Reject the document.
Any accepted documents associated with BNL items will be exported to the lender's LOS when the loan is submitted to the lender. Documents that are accepted post-submission will not be exported to the LOS unless they are associated with a condition.
Once all required documents for a needs list item have been reviewed and classified, use the buttons below the document list to indicate whether they satisfy the item requirements.
If the item is rejected, a window will appear that prompts users to write a more detailed description of the item requirements to help the borrower provide the correct documentation. Select the checkbox in this window if you would like to send the borrower an email notification about their rejected item.

Adding a New Task to the BNL
The BNL is automatically populated with required items based on the information provided in the borrower's loan application. However, if necessary, users can also manually add individual items by selecting Add Needs List Item below the Needed section. This will create a set of fields to add a new item.
By default, the new item is created as a "Miscellaneous Document." To change the requested document type, begin typing in this field to see available document types and select one. Use the second drop-down menu to select which borrower the document should be requested for. You can write a description for the requested document in the large text field.
After it is created, the new needs list item can be uploaded and reviewed as described above.
